There is truth when medical reports say that birth control pills work well with acne. Ortho Tri-Cyclen, a  low dose hormone birth control pill is highly effective in the treatment of acne. Basically a contraceptive, Ortho Tri-Cyclen is taken orally, one pill a day for prevention of pregnancy. Added to this, the drug balances the hormonal levels in the body and fights with mild to moderate acne in women.

Ortho tri-cyclen as contraceptive:
This a low dose hormone pill that stops ovulation or release of eggs for birth control purposes. In order to make it difficult for the sperm to enter the uterus, ortho tri-cyclen thickens the cervical mucus and uterine lining. Though a birth control pill, it requires a period of 7 days to effectively establish its birth control mechanism in the body. Ideal for any women after menstruation, ortho tri-cyclen work without causing severe side effects.

Ortho tri-cyclen for acne: Acne is a serious problem with individuals, especially beauty-conscious youngsters and teenagers. It is a known fact that many women have acne scars that stay on their faces permanently, for life. Adult acne can be an unwanted phenomenon as it is embarrassing and ugly to look at. The market is crowded with many topical drugs for acne treatment. However, the latest treatment that is adopted by doctors is the usage of birth control pills for acne. Ortho tri-cyclen, one  such pill, works better than most of the topical acne medications. Since it balances the acne-inducing hormones in the body, it ensures that you have a clear and glowing skin free of acne.

Ortho tri-cyclen dos, don’ts and side effects: Every birth control pill works effectively only if you follow the set of prescription instructions. Here are a few:

1. Take the drug at the same hour every day. This works effectively as the body is tuned to the reception of the medication and you too can keep track of your medication schedule.

2. Do not smoke while taking the pill. It can increase your risk of heart attack, blood clots, stroke, high blood pressure and similar diseases in the blood vessels.

3. Do not use ortho tri-cyclen in combination with drugs like rifampin, barbiturates, anticonvulsants and a few other antibiotics. Since these drugs reduce the effect of the contraceptive, it is better to avoid them while on birth control medication.

4. Inform your doctor that you are on ortho tri-cyclen medication when you go for dental or other medical surgeries, treatments or emergency care.

5. Side effects are less severe, however, you need to inform your doctor if they persist. Common side effects of the tablet include menstrual bleeding between periods, breast tenderness or sore, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, change in body weight, sometimes accompanied with insomnia.

6. If you miss your period or experience severe side effects or have crushing pain in the chest or problems wearing your contact lenses, inform your doctor. Sometimes stomach pain and vision problems or numbness in the arms or legs can be side effects of the medication. Contact your doctor if you experience these side effects.

7. Do not take the drug if you are pregnant. Also, avoid taking the drug if you are breastfeeding since it can pass on to the baby through breast milk.

PLEASE NOTE : OnlinePharmacyForum.Com recommends personal consultation with a doctor. The dangers in buying medications online include the online drugstore selling counterfeit, expired or contaminated medications to you. Sometimes the drugs that you receive may have been prepared by unethical means or using unusual substances. This is why you should buy drugs from a licensed and FDA-approved pharmacy; after consulting with a doctor and getting a valid prescription.
